Angela Chao Honored at 17th Annual Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business Gala
On June 20, 2018, in New York, Angela Chao, Chair and CEO of Foremost Group, will receive the Pinnacle Award at the Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business Dinner Gala. Every year, during the festive dinner gala, it is presented to one or two individuals who are at the pinnacle of their influential career. On May 23, 2018, Dr. James S.C. Chao and his daughter Angela Chao traveled to Houston for the Lloyd’s List Americas Award Gala. For five years, Lloyd’s List Americas has been honoring best practices in the maritime industry. Its keynote tribute is the Lifetime Achievement Award which this year was bestowed upon Foremost Group Founder and Honorary Chairman, Dr. James Chao.
In accepting the award, Dr. Chao spoke about the role of the maritime industry in promoting cultural understanding among nations, as well as providing an essential service to the world. Angela Chao, Chair and CEO of Foremost Group, introduced her father and spoke about her father’s dedication to the industry, noting that he has devoted his entire life to serving society. Dr. Chao and Angela Chao are being honored at the 2018 Admiral’s Scholarship Dinner on May 1, 2018 at SUNY Maritime College. The event will be held at the Marina del Ray. The Admiral's Scholarship Dinner raises scholarship funds for current and prospective Maritime students. Thanks to dinner committee members, our honorees, attendees and others wishing to make a donation, the Dinner raises scholarship support for students who would not otherwise be able to attend SUNY Maritime College. Last year, the College awarded more than $500,000 in scholarships support from funds raised at the Admiral's Dinner.

The Chinese American Academic and Professional Society (CAAPS) will be awarding Angela Chao the Distinguished Entrepreneurship Award in recognition of her achievements, leadership, and commitment to entrepreneurship. The ceremony will take place at the CAAPS annual gathering. The convention and banquet will be held at the Sheraton LaGuardia East Hotel, in Flushing, New York.

Angela Chao, Deputy Director of the Foremost Group, will be accompanying her father James S.C. Chao to the 40th annual Silver Bell Awards dinner on June 8, 2017. The Seaman's Church Institute's Annual Dinner raises funds to support mariner rights, provide training programs, advocacy and more to US seafarers. The Silver Bell award is bestowed upon a person or group who has made significant contributions to the maritime industry and to merchant mariners.
Dr. Chao is being recognized for his advancement of the maritime industry, his lifelong dedication to education, as evidenced most recently by his charitable contributions to National Taiwan Ocean University and SUNY Maritime, and his commitment to building the highest caliber of shipping fleets and professional staff. The Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) will open its four-day, annual conference on March 23, 2017 in Boao, Hainan. The main topic of this year's conference is “Globalization and Free Trade: The Asian Perspective", and is designed to continue the discussion that began last year in Melbourne. The 2016 Melbourne Conference gathered hundreds of leading Asian business people, academics and politician to explore the future of globalization and engaged them in intense conversations around expected obstacles and opportunities. This year, BFA hopes to create a platform for representatives of Asian and emerging economies to discuss the topic of global inclusiveness. Discussions will focus on the great significance and potential of global inclusion, inspiring inclusive initiatives and future collaborations.
