Angela Chao Speaks on Panel at 2021 SupChina Women's Conference
Foremost Group Chair Angela Chao spoke on a virtual panel at the 2021 SupChina Women's Conference. Hosted by Pillsbury Senior Associate Michelle Ng, she was joined by World Bank Group Data Director Haishan Fu, Everybody and Everyone CEO and founder Veronica Chou, and Fusion Fund Managing Partner and founder Lu Zhang. SupChina is a New York-based news, information, and business-services platform that reports on issues surrounding Chinese business, technology, politics, culture, and society. The panel featuring Angela was held on May 12, 2021 and was part of the conference's greater theme of How Women Are Shaping the Rising Global Power of China.
Angela discussed how digital transformation is changing all companies, even if they are part of a very traditional industry, such as shipping. Specifically, she asserted that the shipping industry is actually the most environmentally friendly mode of transportation in the world and that it is highly efficient relative to its size, as it is responsible for 90% of global trade with just over 2% of the world's greenhouse gas emissions. As examples, she explained how ships are becoming more eco-friendly through lost-cost sensors and how they are becoming more advanced through technology that allows them to monitor machinery on board and to send data directly to headquarters in real time.
